The national curriculum for Health and Physical Education offers students the following:
- Opportunities to adopt lifelong healthy, active living
- Opportunities to enhance their own and others' health and well being in ever changing contexts.
- Be involved in experiential learning, with a curriculum that is relevant, engaging, contemporary, physically active, enjoyable and developmentally appropriate.
At Strathpine West State School these philosophies are strongly supported and incorporated into weekly Health and physical education lessons.
Students in Years 5&6 are involved in inter-school sports with neighbouring schools in the district. Students can develop their skills in a range of activities which include netball, soccer and rugby league.
Opportunities also exist for students to participate in district, regional, state and national sporting competitions throughout the year.
