PRIME Community Band Inc. was originally formed in
1999 as “Pine Rivers Instrumental Music Ensemble (PRIME)”. At the time its
members included parents and past parents of Strathpine West State School.
Today, the group retains some original members and has expanded to incorporate
adult musicians from the local community. PRIME caters for the emerging adult
player and also the more experienced player.
They play Concert Band music
around level 2 to 3.
PRIME has enjoyed a long and productive association
with the Strathpine West State School and has contributed to the funding of
many resources. These have included the purchase of sound equipment, music
stands and instruments some of which have provided student access to speciality
orchestral percussion instruments which are not usually available in primary
schools.
The members of PRIME regularly perform free of
charge for the residents of local Aged Care facilities. They have performed at
The Village at Taigum, Aspley Gardens, Aveo at Albany Creek, Pinewoods Aged
Care, the PM Village Aged Care at Bald Hills and Eventide Nursing Home at
Brighton as well as a number of other venues in the wider community.
This group of talented musicians meet every
Thursday evening during the school terms. They rehearse in the music room at
Strathpine West State School.
